SCC General Rules

Summer League

Baseball/Softball

Scheduling Games

1. One of the league commissioners will work to schedule games

a. We will try not to schedule more than 3 games in any given week

2. Make up policy

a. Games that are canceled due to weather or a school event are to be handled as

                follows:

i.   The home team must decide no later than 4:00 if a game can be played or not

Ii.  The home team has one week to contact the opposing coach with alternative

Dates.

ii. The opposing coach is required to respond within the same week.

iii. If the home team does not have any open home dates then they should ask

the opposing team if they have any open dates on their field.

b. If you are having trouble with a coach not communicating regarding a re-schedule,

please check in with your town representative

3. The format of the league tournament will be determined at a later date and is dependent

upon the total number of teams in each age group playing in the tournament. In addition, there

will be tournament-specific rules.

4. Rosters

a. Teams will not have a max number of players on their roster. Teams should have a

minimum of 9 players making up a roster.

b. Players can only play for 1 team in the SCC League and only 1 team in any age

group, regardless of division.

i. A player who is on a 9-10 yr old team may not play on another 9-10 yr old

team. If you want to add a player for a game you must add a player from a younger SCC team.

ii. We encourage all teams to have a pool of younger players they can pull from if

they will be short players. Please ONLY pull players if you do NOT have enough.

iii. Games will not result in forfeit due to lack of players

iv. 12u and 14u teams cannot be combined and called a 12u team.  It must be classified as a 14u team

c. When submitting a lineup card to the opposing team, coaches must use the players

last name.

5. It is the responsibility of the home team to ensure that all applicable rules affiliated with their

“home field” of play get reviewed with the visiting coach and umpires prior to the start of the

game. Upon completion of the “home field” rules review it is the responsibility of both teams to

ensure that no violations occur.  The “home field” rules are considered the ground rules, not different interpretations of the rules of the league.  League rules should be followed at all times.

6. Players that depart the game for any other reason besides injury will have their spot in the

lineup considered as an out each time that the missing players spot in the batting order comes

Up.

a. If a player leaves the game due to injury he will not be allowed to re-enter the same

game. When his turn in the lineup comes up, they will simply be skipped over.

7. The hosting team will be required to supply 2 newer baseballs / softballs and have 2 other

used balls on hand for each game.

8. For each league game one umpire is required, we would encourage 2 for each game. If there

is only 1 umpire, it may be easiest if they stand behind the pitcher’s mound to call the game.

9. It is the responsibility of the head coach (or acting head coach) to ensure that players and

fans exhibit proper sportsmanship at all times. Ejected players, fans and coaches will be

required to depart the field of play immediately. Failure to oblige will result in forfeiture of the

game.  Anyone ejected will serve a 1 game suspension

10.  Once a game passes the 90 minute mark, the next inning started will be the last inning.  Unlimited runs can be scored during the 6th or last inning.

  1. The clock will start on the 1st pitch

  2. Extra innings are allowed if time is left on the clock

  3. Games can end in a tie

11.  Mercy rule - 10 run lead after 5 innings

  1. A game is considered complete once 5 innings have been played

  2. If a game is stopped before 5 innings, it will be resumed from where it halted at a later date
